Dear Lancers,

I regret to inform you that, due to several unforeseen circumstances, Lakenheath High School will not be able to host a bonfire this year. Please understand that the health and safety of our students, staff, and community members are our highest priorities. Unfortunately, the current condition of the site intended for the bonfire does not meet the safety standards required for such an event, and we are unable to resolve these issues in time.

A few important factors contributed to the decision to cancel this year's bonfire: over the past few weeks, individuals in the community have dropped off large amounts of pallets and other materials at the bonfire site. Many of these materials are not suitable for a bonfire, and the current pile is so large that, if lit, it would burn for several days. We understand that the bonfire is a beloved tradition, and we share your disappointment. However, the safety of everyone involved must always come first. We appreciate your understanding and patience, and we look forward to hosting a safer, more enjoyable bonfire next fall.

Thank you for your continued support.

Mr. Malloy
