Vision
Excellence in Education for Every Student, Every Day, Everywhere
Since 1946, DoDEA has continued to provide a comprehensive quality education from kindergarten through grade twelve for the children of American military members, Department of Defense employees, and civilians employed in private American firms stationed overseas. The DoDEA system has a population of approximately 66,000 students, in 161 schools, located in 11 countries, 7 states, and 2 territories.
Lakenheath High School
Lakenheath High School (LHS) serves three U.S. Air Force bases located in the East Anglia region of the United Kingdom; about 1.5 hours drive northeast of London. LHS is coeducational secondary institution covering grades 9-12. LHS was founded in 1960, making us the oldest DoDEA school in the United Kingdom. The school campus is composed of an auditorium, two gymnasiums, 4 science labs, 4 computer labs, specialized rooms for art, music, and drama with an extensive Information Center.
Guidance and Counseling
Two counselors, a school psychologist, nurse and Adolescent Substance Abuse Counselor and two Military and Family Life Counselors provide services in academic, personal, social, and career development.
Sports
LHS is a DoDEA European Division I school offering competitive sports throughout the school year. All sports are offered to both genders unless specified. Fall sports include Cheer, Cross Country, Football, Golf, Tennis and Girl's Volleyball. Fitness Games will be offered in the fall of 2020. Winter sports include Basketball, Competition Cheer, and Wrestling. Spring sports include Boys Baseball, Girls Softball, Soccer, and Track. Various base programs also support swimming with the Lakenheath Barracudas swim team.
Special Curriculum Features
In addition to offering 15 Advanced Placement classes, our varied elective course options provides a robust Career and Technical Education program comprising of seven different pathway options. Virtual online classes are available in almost every major field through the DoDEA Virtual High School. The 4-year JROTC program includes a leadership summer camp in Germany.
