Counseling Corner: Common App Fee Waivers-Schoolinks-SAT Registration deadline

Good morning!

Seniors, thank you for attending our Schoolinks college application session yesterday during seminar.  You have all received your GSR (graduation status report) and current transcript with rank.  These documents will help you through the process so please hang on to them and share with your guardians/parents.  Parents, please consider claiming a guardian account in Schoolinks so you can also track your students application process. (please see attached)

 Just a reminder that as you fill out your college application in "Common App" and "SchooLinks" to select that you are eligible for a fee waiver.  One of our seniors provided the screen shot below from a student view.

If you or your University are requesting recommendations, please do not forget to notify the teacher.   As a counselor I need your bragsheets/resumes to give the best all-round view of your accomplishments. Remember, academics are only part of the process.  Volunteer work, clubs, societies, extra-curricular, scouts, awards, aspirations, describe yourself in 3-5 words, hobbies and family life etc.  These are important aspects of presenting ourselves as well rounded individuals.  There is a module in Schoolinks to guide you through this task.  

Consider using your seminar times before movement to log in to SchooLinks (on your school laptop) and get familiar with the software. You can review colleges and scholarships among other tasks, and follow the links to apply all in one place.  Reminder SchooLinks and Common App are now linked. 

The deadline for taking the October 5th SAT is THIS FRIDAY the 20th of September.  You must have a College Board account to register.  Please use your PSC address because foreign addresses are experiencing issues, and your personal email (not school account).  We will have a free "in school digital SAT" on Wednesday the 9th of October, please plan to attend school that day.  Homeschool students that are auxiliary registered are also welcome to attend.
